Trelligence Affinity And Bentley AECOsim Building Designer Release 2 Announced at Bentley LEARNing Conference

Words: Bronzella Cleveland

Trelligence, Inc. announced the second release of the Trelligence Affinity™ software integration with Bentley AECOsim Building Designer at the Bentley LEARNing Conference. The new release delivers significant enhancements to the combined software solution, which provides end-to-end building lifecycle support. Trelligence Affinity is the industry-leading architectural programming, early design, data aggregation, and design validation BIM tool. Bentley's AECOsim Building Designer is a single, integrated application that includes tools for architectural, structural, mechanical systems, and electrical design and construction documentation.

The integration enables project teams to easily connect and synchronize the Affinity and AECOsim Building Designer project files, making the Affinity program data, views, and design validation tools accessible from an Affinity Program Panel within AECOsim Building Designer. Project team members can use the program data to help guide the design development. Release 2 enhances the program-to-design workflow by enabling designers to drag-and-drop Affinity Program items from the Program Panel, directly into the AECOsim design, which populates the rooms and any equipment or furnishings specified in the program. Project teams may also choose to build a schematic design model in Affinity and load it into AECOsim Building Designer for detailed design, or alternatively, synchronize an existing AECOsim design with Affinity. The combination of these powerful software tools provides a flexible and robust software solution that yields improvements in quality and reductions in cost throughout the building lifecycle, the companies say.

Larry Ciscon, Ph.D., Trelligence president, and Noel Page, LEED AP, Bentley senior BIM consultant, co-presented the Architectural Programming session at the Bentley LEARNing Conference on May 14, 2013. The session discussed how to structure the Affinity–AECOsim Building Designer workflow, starting with the capture of program requirements in Trelligence Affinity, and continuing to the integration of the program data within AECOsim Building Designer for design modeling and program compliance reporting.
