On Tuesday, September 3, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) – in conjunction with the California Preservation Foundation – will host a webinar on conserving masonry materials. Hosted by Carolyn Searls, P.E., senior principal at SGH, the webinar will give attendees “a whirlwind tour with some key takeaways of the masonry facade repair process from investigation through construction.”

Other learning objectives of the webinar include the following:

  • Understand the different types of masonry units and the common configurations of masonry walls.
  • Recognize signs of masonry deterioration and their causes.
  • Learn the most common repair techniques:  cleaning, repointing, patching, dutchmen, retooling, and replacement.
  • Gain tips on the construction document, bidding, and construction process.
