David RogersPerkowitz + Ruth Architects (P+R), a full-service international architecture firm, has hired David Rogers, FAIA as design principal. He will work closely with project teams to establish design direction for projects, refine design processes, provide mentorship to other designers and represent the firm in design forums.

Rogers says he is eager to enhance the collaborative spirit and design direction for P+R in the Placemaking Studio – focused on retail, commercial and mixed-use typologies, and firm wide.

Rogers’ joins P+R with a career spanning 40 years. He has focused on revitalizing city centers globally; sustaining their historical and cultural elements and thereby enriching the lives of millions of people, P+R reports. His passion to transform cities has fostered bold and metamorphic projects throughout the world, both through his design contributions. Widely published and globally recognized, Rogers has earned numerous design awards from the AIA, ULI and ICSC; including a Viva award for the repositioning of Santa Monica Place in Santa Monica, Calif.

The architect’s dedication to his profession reflects a sensitive, progressive and vanguard design methodology necessary to create a natural fit in many diverse cultures, P+R said in a released statement. This design approach infuses communal connectivity to his regenerative, urbanist ideals – continually aiming to create catalysts for progressive, sustainable projects and for the best possible evolution of communities worldwide.

In the Netherlands, the Beursplein project Rogers designed revitalized the district by dynamically connecting two previously separated districts of the central city. Similarly, his work for Zlote Tarasy in Poland transformed the city center of Warsaw, generating new life from an empty site to a poetic profile in contemporary architectural vernacular. His award-winning work for Fremont Street in Las Vegas and the redesign of Santa Monica Place have both dramatically increased the commercial and social activity within their respective locations.

“David is an internationally recognized leader in retail and mixed-use design, and he will be a tremendous addition to support our ongoing goals to create dynamic places where people shop, live, work and play,” said Steve Ruth, AIA, CEO of P+R Architects. “Through his steadfast commitment to his principles as a designer, architect and urbanist will, in collaboration with the partners of P+R Architects, propel the firm’s global reach in new and exciting directions.”
