Joseph O’Neill

Two staff additions were announced recently at Los Angeles-based A/E/P firm Cannon Design. First, Joseph O’Neill, AIA, has joined the firm’s Yazdani Studio as the new technical leader. The studio is “a laboratory for exploration and excellence in architecture.” O’Neill will be providing technical design direction and oversight to all of the work produced in the Studio. According to the Studio’s Principal, Mehrdad Yazdani, “Joseph O’Neill is a highly innovative, well-rounded architect with an expertise in design sensitive, technical detailing. Joseph shares our commitment to expand the boundaries of design – from refining concepts of sustainability to the application of new technologies and urban initiatives. We are very pleased that he has joined our team.”

Second, James Balzli, AIA, has been appointed to the position of associate. Since joining Cannon Design in 2006, Balzli has worked on the Los Angeles Mission College Health & PE Fitness Center under an accelerated design schedule to achieve approvals through the California Division of the State Architect. He continues as a construction administrator on the project, which is pursuing LEED silver certification. Balzli also worked in collaboration with the Yazdani Studio on the Museum of Tolerance.
